Guides is our section for girls aged 10 to 14.

Guides have the chance to get out there and do something really different.

Members take part in a wide range of exciting activities by participating in their unit’s varied weekly meeting programme and at special events or holidays. Girls can get involved in anything from adventure sports to performing arts, travel and taking part in community action projects.

Guides work together in small groups or ‘Patrols’ and, with the support of an adult Leader, choose and run some of the activities themselves using Go for It! resource packs.

The Guide programme is divided into five areas:

  • discovery of new experiences and challenges
  • healthy lifestyles
  • global awareness
  • skills and relationships
  • celebrating diversity.

Being a Guide is all about learning new skills, making your own decisions and having fun. guiding provides a safe environment to explore new possibilities and achieve personal goals while making friends and having adventures. And it’s up to each Guide to work out which opportunities are relevant for her, whether it’s improving her football skills, campaigning against airbrushing in the media, or learning about independent living.

Girlguiding Oxfordshire offers a wide range of activities including but not limited to:

  • Oxygen our annual Patrol competition where Guides use their team working skills to take part in a variety of outdoor challenges.
  • Quest our County camp where hundreds of Guides join together for an action-packed week.

After the age of 14, girls may decide to move on to Senior Section

  • Rainbows

    Rainbows

    Rainbows is our section for girls aged five to seven.

    Being a Rainbow is all about learning, developing self-confidence and building friendships. Rainbows are encouraged to learn about working together and being kind and considerate to others, and also to think about the wider world. Although Rainbows do sometimes do badges and challenges, the main focus is on having lots of fun!

    Brownies

    Brownies is our section for girls aged seven to ten.

    Brownies meetings are fun and varied, featuring arts, crafts, cooking, games, visitors and projects. Brownies can also extend their knowledge n working towards a wide variety of badges, such as the Environment Badge, the Science Investigator Badge and even a Circus Skills Badge! They may also go on Pack Holiday, camp, or a sleep...
