Brownies is our section for girls aged seven to ten.

Brownies meetings are fun and varied, featuring arts, crafts, cooking, games, visitors and projects. Brownies can also extend their knowledge n working towards a wide variety of badges, such as the Environment Badge, the Science Investigator Badge and even a Circus Skills Badge! They may also go on Pack Holiday, camp, or a sleep over, participate in special events and day trips.

Brownies become a member of a Six, a unit with a name such as Badger, Fox, Mole, Squirrel, Hedgehog or Rabbit, and follow a programme called the Brownie Adventure.

The name reflects the world of exciting opportunities, challenges and fun that is Brownies.

The Brownie Adventure is divided into three areas:

  • You – where girls build confidence and self-esteem
  • Community – where girls are encouraged to be active within their communities
  • World – where girls learn about the wider world.

When a Brownie is approaching her tenth birthday, she may start working on the Brownie Adventure On programme, which introduces her to Guides.

Rainbows are encouraged to learn about working together and being kind and considerate to others, and also to think about the wider world. Although Rainbows do sometimes do badges and challenges, the main focus is on having lots of fun!
