Eynsham Guides take on Cotswold Marathon

1996CDA30th March 2015

We headed to Gloucester to Murray hall to set up our tent for our walk. We then had to go and get our kit checked otherwise we wouldn’t be able to do the walk. After that we would wait for ages to go, it was really scary. It was amazing when we got to the top of the first hill as you could see the lights of the town in the dark and it was beautiful. There was a really muddy part where we had to be careful otherwise we would fall over. The halfway point was just a short walk further. Soon after was Coopers hill, which was not nice at all and the final stretch was through Birdlip to the mini bus. It took us 5 hours and 25 minutes to complete.

Back at the tent we ordered pizzas from Dominos. After breakfast we packed up and had a presentation. Our group won the female novice prize for 12 miles. The silver team had to carry on for another 6 miles in really thick fog but came first in their category in a time of 6 hours and 17 minutes and won the Keith Aston cup. Altogether it was an amazing experience and we would definitely do it again!
