Brownie Robot Day

GG0-14A207th October 2019

Having enjoyed unit visits from the County robots, Brownies from Windrush and Wychwood Divisions took part in a robot programming day.

A team from the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s Remote Applications in Challenging Environments (RACE) talked about life as an engineer and the role of robots in their work before helping the girls to tackle a number of challenges.

The Brownies programmed their Sphero Mini robots to compete in dressage competitions, perform sequence displays inspired by bell ringing and take part in a country dance display.

Thank you to the Girlguiding leaders and RACE team who made this event possible and to the Outreach Team from the University of Oxford’s Department of Computer Science for their help planning the day.

This event was part of Girlguiding Oxfordshire’s Robots Project. Thank you to our sponsors: the Doris Field Charitable Trust, Mr & Mrs JA Pye’s Charitable Settlement, Stream and Torchbox.
