Why become a leader?
As a volunteer you will get a great sense of satisfaction from watching the girls and young women in your unit develop their confidence and skills, as well as have lots of fun. In addition, working to improve your community both directly with the girls and possibly outside the unit on community projects will give you a huge sense of personal achievement.

We have 50,000 girls and young women on our waiting-to-join lists. By volunteering as a unit Leader or helper you'll enable several of these girls to take part in guiding and provide oppoerunities for them to assert themselves, make decisions, take on positions of responsibility and work in teams in an girl-only environment.

Awards

All Guiding volunteers deserve enormous thanks and recognition! If you'd like to recognise the contribution or actions of someone particularly special in your district, you can recommend them for a special Guiding award (National, Regional or County level). Take a look at the options here. Awards recommendations should come to the Awards Advisor through your Division Commissioner and should be supported by accompanying letters.

Banners
The County owns a number of pull-up banners that can be borrowed for use at local events. These are housed up at Jubilee House and need to be collected. The more notice that you can give us that you require these banners, the greater chance that you will be able to get them on time! If you would like to borrow a banner please contact the County Commissioner.

Recruitment materials
You can order postcards for recruiting girls via the online shop here. Designed with the help of young guiding members, these postcards will give girls and parents/carers a taste of what guiding is all about. (Postcards available: 6906 Rainbows/ 6907 Brownies/ 6908 Guides/ 6909 Senior Section. Pack of 50 FREE – P&P charge only)
