Launch Party

Taking Cotswold Wildlife Park by storm!
In Oxfordshire we will be kicking off the centenary celebrations with a special launch party at Cotswold Wildlife Park during the weekend of the 5th and 6th of September. The timing of this marks the anniversary of the first Scout rally at Crystal Palace in September 1909, when a group of pioneering girls turned up and insisted that they would like to be Scouts too! Every member of Girlguiding Oxfordshire is invited to celebrate this momentous occasion, and to make the day even more special, each girl can invite a friend or family member to accompany them who has at one time made their promise.

Due to the very large numbers involved, the celebration is being held over two days, with different Divisions invited on each of the days - you should be told which day applies to you. There will be specially organized activities in and around our own marquee, and a giant singsong just after lunch. Brownies and Rainbows should come to the Launch party activities in the morning, stay for lunch and the sing song, and then be able to go round the park (or go home) in the afternoon with their leader or parents. Guides and Senior Section Members can come along in the morning, when they will have their chance to visit the park, and then join us for lunch, the sing song, and their activities.

The park is open from 10am, closing at 6pm, and the following are the timings for the different sessions.

Morning Session(Rainbows and Brownies): 10:30 – 12:30
Lunch(Everyone): 12:45 – 1:15
Singing(Everyone): 1:15 – 1:45
Afternoon Session(Guides and Senior Section): 2:00 – 4:00

Entry to the park is subsidised, but unfortunately as you can understand with an event this size, the County cannot undertake to cover these costs for all. Therefore the cost of entry must be paid my individuals/groups on arrival at the park. The special rates for Girlguiding are as follows:

Adults: £8.50
Over 65’s:£6.50
Children£6.00
Under 3’sFree

Attendance is being coordinated at a District level, and so you may find that there is a coach laid on in your area, or that you will need to carpool and travel in smaller groups.

Keep an eye out for further details at your unit meetings and make sure you don't miss out on a fantastic day out that you'll remember forever!
