OxyGen - Girlguiding Oxfordshire‟s new generation patrol competition. Designed for fun, adventure and to encourage team work. Twenty Patrols from across Oxfordshire entered this year‟s competition the theme of which was – a Breath of Fresh Air. The challenges included transporting water across an electric fence (ok a fence of ropes), abseiling, outdoor cooking, the whole patrol completing the assault course, balloon art and natural art.

Hannah Smith form 1st Bicester Garrison Guides said “it has been great and I got around the assault course even with a plaster cast on my leg”. One patrol from Abingdon worked really hard to encourage one of their patrol over the wall on the assault course. Sarah Hughes from the patrol said “ well that is what guiding is about taking on new challenges”. Lucy Dallimore said that she had enjoyed the balloon art as it was something different that she had not done before. Guides from Abingdon said that they had enjoyed the pioneering challenge as they had to work together as a team to achieve the goal and had been allowed to make their own decisions.

This year 3rd Headington Guides won the competition but there was only one point between third and first place.
