Have you heard about Promotion, Promotion, Promotion? It’s Girlguiding Oxfordshire’s way of keeping promotion a high priority in all the great guiding that we do.
The Promotion, Promotion, Promotion group is working to make it
easier to promote guiding and recruit volunteers and members. Many
divisions have a representative on the group.
This newsletter is to spread the word about the possibilities for promotion in our units, districts, divisions and county. Hopefully you find it useful!

Free publicity resource
Unit leaders across Oxfordshire should be aware that they have an additional – free – publicity resource available to them. Sarah Gibbons, an Assistant Guider with 2nd Faringdon Brownies, works in public relations as her 'day job' and is happy to visit any unit or Guidersseeking advice on how best to publicise their activities, either to new
girls or potential adult helpers.
Sarah said: 'I understand that some Guiders are reluctant to seek publicity or are unsure of how they should handle the media if they want to publicise an event through their local paper or radio station. However, I have worked in this field for more than 20 years and take it in my stride! I have picked up countless useful tips on how to get your message across to journalists and ensure, as far as possible, that your story gets out there to the people who matter. If any Guiders want help in how to write an eye-catching press release or some ideas on what, where and when to publicise, please get in touch. People are any organisation's best assets, and that is particularly true in Guiding but traditionally, we are not very good at promoting ourselves or what we do. We all know there is a lot to shout out about in Guiding and we know how much fun girls and adults have taking part in weekly meetings, special activities, holidays and fundraising. We should all make extra efforts to let our communities know just what they can look forward to if they come along.'
Sarah is willing and able, diary-permitting, to attend Unit or District meetings, or to speak one-to-one or in a group to Guiders looking to engage in Promotion, Promotion, Promotion! She can be contacted via email at JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING for any advice or to arrange a meeting.
