To celebrate the finale of the Centenary the brownies of Sonning Common District decided to hold a circus party. Shooting Stars circus skills team came and held a work shop for 80 Brownies from 4 different packs. The girls learnt plate spinning and devil sticks during the first session. Then, during free play, they could have a go at juggling, tight rope walking, uni-cycle, mini bikes and walking on stilts (to name a few!).
The girls completed a Vision tree and were asked to write down what they liked best about Brownies. It was so good to see that the majority of girls like it because they like having fun!
Here are a few of their ideas:
- “It is fun and we play fun games”
- “Being with other people and earning badges”
- “I like Brownies because we play games and have fun”
- "I like Brownies because I can make new friends"
We remade our promise at the end of the evening and 5 girls made their promise for the first time. All the girls received a new 2010 badge in their party bag along with the Oxfordshire centenary badge and celebratory cup cake.
A great evening was had by all!
