World Thinking Day Celebrations 2011

Our celebrations started at 12 noon with the arrival of Guiders to set up their chosen Country table. This is where we put out food from different Countries, a flag and a name plate to show our Country.

Next the girls arrived and a short celebratory service was held. A procession of flags and Olivias opened the service. The Laws were read, promises renewed, each unit lit a candle for their Country and shiny pennies were placed on top of the World Flag. The Trefoil Guild read the Prayers.

Following the service the girls filled their plates with foods from around the world and sat on the floor around a large table cloth to eat. Whilst the Leaders were tidying the food away and putting out crafts from around the world the girls went back into the church for a Sing Song. It was then time to have a go at making the different crafts. To end the afternoon each level sang their good night song and everyone received a Thinking Day card which had previously been made in unit meetings.

We had a number of guests from Division, our Vicar who very kindly had put the order of service onto a Power Point presentation for us and our Town Mayor and his wife. The afternoon was organised by Leaders in Training and was deemed a huge success.
