News from 1st Bodicote Guides

1st Bodicote Guides have been busy as ever since the fabulous VISION event at Broughton Castle. Since Christmas we have been working on our Homemaker Badge, 3 Peaks Challenge, WAGGGS World Thinking Day Challenge.

Home maker badge: so far we have made a soft toy and lavender bags.

3 Peaks Challenge: we had a night hike up our to our highest point - Crouch Hill and last week one of their challenges was in patrols to make the highest tower using just spaghetti and marshmallows. Good sticky fun that needed thought, teamwork, and determination. The winners were the Dolphin patrol.

WAGGGS World Thinking Day Challenge 2011: we had an alternative game of musical chairs where the girls needed to debate to keep their seat. We had a rich and poor supper and we have helped each other to learn how to tie a friendship knot. We are looking forward to learning some boxercise moves in a couple of weeks. For the fundraising part of this badge we have taken part in the 2011 Rotary Club Swimathon at Bloxham Pool. 11 girls swam a fantastic 601 lengths in 1 hour. Sponsor money is still coming in so we do not currently have a total, but half the money raised we keep and will send onto Guide Thinking Day Fund. The girls who were not available for the sponsored swim have made coin collages with the money also being donated to Guide Thinking day fund. We are continuing with these challenges to the end of term.
