Senior Section (age 14 - 25)
What does the Senior Section do?
In the Senior Section, young women participate in a fun and flexible programme known as Look Wider. The programme is also linked to a variety of recognised qualifications or awards, both within and outside guiding. The opportunities and challenges which guiding offers can be followed by a group or by individual members and are designed to be particularly beneficial to girls getting ready to embark on a career.
- The 'Look Wider' Programme is based around eight programme areas known as Octants: *Creativity, *Fit for Life, *Community Action, *Out-of-doors, *International, *Independent Living, *Personal Values, *Leadership.
- A young woman may belong to the Senior Section from her 14th to her 26th birthday. The Senior Section includes: *Ranger Guides, both members of Ranger Guide Units and Lone Ranger Guides; *Young Leaders (including Lone Young Leaders); *Young Leaders, Advisers and Commissioners who choose to participate in the section programme; *Junior Council members; *Members of Student Scout and Guide Clubs; *British Youth Council delegation members; *Female LINK members; *Girlguiding UK Duke of Edinburgh's Award participants.
- The Senior Section Promise is the same as the Guides Promise, with the added responsibility 'To be of service to the community'.
- Members wear section wear appropriate to the group to which they belong, or wear clothing suitable for the activity in which they are participating.
