Ways to Celebrate catalogue
All adult members of Girlguiding should have received a ‘Ways to Celebrate’ catalogue with the January edition of guiding magazine. The catalogue describes the Centenary events available and this website will help you dive deeper into what each event and project is about including how to get involved. Take a good look through the catalogue and discuss options with your girls or use the events as inspiration for your own celebrations, then hit the website to find out more. Happy planning!

Centenary key messages card
A Centenary version of the key message card is now available to download. The card, which provides modern and historic examples of each perception key message, was included in the March 2009 issue of guiding magazine, or can be downloaded here.

National Projects

Centenary Camp, Harewood House, 31 July – 7 August
UK Guide units can apply for places consisting of one adult leader plus four Guides (aged 10-15 at the time of camp). This will be known as the Camp Group. Girls’ details are not required at this stage - they can be confirmed later. Apply online now!

Fusion, Harewood House, 4 August
A festival celebrating the best in performing arts in the beautiful outdoor surroundings of Harewood House, North Yorkshire. You will be able to book groups of 300+ from 2nd November 2009 and smaller groups and individuals tickets can be booked from 4th January 2010. Keep an eye on the Girlguiding UK centenary website for more details.

One World One Beat (Anglia), Saturday 20 February and Sunday 21 February, Stevenage Arts & Leisure Centre
The biggest World Thinking Day event in the UK ever! One World One Beat is the event to be at in 2010, with over 18,000 girls and young women celebrating together over a fun-filled weekend. Book here

Crystal Palace Maze
Opening in September 2009, the Girlguiding UK Centenary Maze will be a fun and interactive public work of art, located at Crystal Palace Park, London. Designed by artists brook & black, the maze will commemorate the birth of guiding.

Photography Projects
Budding photographers wanted! Girlguiding UK is running two photography projects in order to creatively record the fun and celebrations of our Centenary year: 'Photo Pinboard' and 'Catch the Moment' competition. If you're taking part in our County photography competition, why not submit to Girlguiding UK too?

Young Women's World Forum
The first Young Women’s World Forum in 2010 hosted by Girlguiding UK, will be held at Heythrop Park, Oxfordshire and will be an opportunity for two young women aged 18-25 from each WAGGGS Member Organization to represent their country and discuss the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals.

These discussions will pay particular attention to the WAGGGS global action theme: girls worldwide say “together we can change our world”. Delegate positions for the UK contingent will be advertised via the national website in September 2009.

Finale, 20:10, 20/10, 2010
Centenary Finale events will be taking place across the UK giving every member of Girlguiding UK, from Rainbows to the Trefoil Guild, the opportunity to renew or make their promise at 8.10pm on October 20th in 2010.
